For those of you who are still running an old copy of Microsoft Money, today Microsoft released what appears to be its final version of Microsoft Money called Microsoft Money Plus Deluxe Sunset. Obviously online banking needs to be updated, e.g. According to Windows Compatibility Center, only MS Money Plus Sunset Deluxe edition (successor to MS Money Plus) will run in Windows 10. Since I have a few Windows machines, I might not update one of them until I know Money will work on it. Well, luckily for you, that’s still possible, even if it is officially dead. Therefore, you need to use Money Plus Sunset Deluxe, as this one will definitely work (download link at the end of the article). I have just followed the route to Internet Explorer as you suggest and the version is set to 0. The official version of the program, however, won’t work on your Windows 8 device, unless you choose to run it in compatibility mode. I doubt I will give up Quicken anytime soon just because of the age of the Money program and the possibility that Microsoft might come out with an operating system that renders Money unworkable. I am already using Microsoft Money Sunset Deluxe and I have already changed the registry (as above) before I posted this problem. Quicken is acceptable if there is nothing else but Money, even a 12 year old version, is far superior in my opinion. I note that the 2008 version is still available and I might download it just to see what the differences are.
I have the current version of Quicken but this 12 year old version is far superior both in information gathering and input. I always did like Money and preferred it to Quicken back in the day. On a lark I put it in the disc drive and son of a gun it loaded and installed itself. I found it quite by accident in a box of books and CDs. Microsoft is looking toward the future with Windows 10, but you might have some older program that you still need to use, try Compatibility mode to make it work. There is/was a Sunset version available from Microsoft, havent tried it. Press Windows key+ R to run command to open. Microsoft Money was discontinued some time ago, doubtful there will be any effort to make it work on Win10.
